The FlyElephant team is pleased to announce the release of the platform FlyElephant 2.0 , which included the following updates : internal expert community, project collaboration, public tasks, Docker and Jupyter support, new data storage and HPC clustering.
FlyElephant – a platform for data scientists, engineers and scientists that provides a turnkey computing infrastructure for high-performance computing and rendering, helps find partners and collaborate on projects, and manages all resources from one location. The platform consists of 3 core components :
- Compute. Quick access to a compute cluster in the cloud with the right software or HPC cluster, and automation of calculations.
- Collaborate. Collaborate on projects and a community of experts where you can find partners to solve a difficult problem or get expert advice together.
- Manage. Manage licenses, software, compute resources, templates, algorithms, data, and results in one place.
Among the innovations are the following :
- Internal community of experts
We’re starting to develop an internal community of experts. Now you can publish your profile in the directory, add colleagues as friends, share tasks and results, as well as get bonus computing hours for activity within the community.
- Working together on projects
You can create public and private projects, invite your colleagues to them, and share the results of your calculations inside the projects. Anyone can join a public project and contribute to it.
- Public tasks
Users can publish and share their tasks and results. All of a user’s public tasks are available on their profile page.
- Docker Support
We have implemented support for Docker containers. Now users can run their computations even faster using programs from the catalog, and in the future it will be possible to run their own Docker containers inside the platform.
- Jupyter support
We have implemented Jupyter support for interactive work with code.
- VNC support
For remote access to applications that need a desktop, we have implemented support for VNC.
- New data storage
We have implemented our new storage based on ownCloud. Now users can easily synchronize data between all their workstations and storage.
- Working with HPC clusters
We have implemented Slurm support which allows us to directly send tasks from FlyElephant to HPC clusters. The first HPC cluster has already been added to our catalog.
- Registration through social networks
Registration has become even easier and faster.
- Slack communities
Join the FlyElephant user community: slack.flyelephant.net And to our HPC community : hpc.community
We invite everyone to try the new functionality and check out our next webinar "FlyElephant 2.0: overview of innovations". If you are not already with FlyElephant, register here After registering you will have 100 free hours on your account.
We would be grateful for feedback and suggestions to improve the platform, and we’ll also be happy to give you a 30-minute demo presentation on how it works. You can book a time for the demo. here
