Dronie and a cyber arm from Campus Navigator at Seliger

by admin

All last week the Navigator Campus team and a couple of residents spent at Seliger 2014, a youth educational forum. You can have different opinions about the Forum and its organizers, but I really like Seliger. Nothing can replace the energy of thousands (this year there were about 4000+ participants at our shift) of young people from all over the country.

Our booth was approached by Nigel Eklund. and there was no way he could finally leave, coming back three times.

Nigel has a real cyborg hand controlled by electrodes on his skin. Nigel can move his fingers with his mind, shake his interlocutor’s hand (he shook mine too!) and use a cyber-arm almost completely. Yes, almost! He can theoretically change the attachment, put a circular saw instead of a hand, and operate it.
We had an early development of a 3D-printed superlocost prosthetic hand and a billet of a more complex prosthetic, with electronics and a vacuum suction cup, lying on the stand.

Nigel was surprised by the potential cost of our device and its simplicity, he promised to support our developers so that the prosthesis could be refined and released to the market, helping millions of people who have lost an arm get a new, cybernetic one.

We have been showing and gathering organizers and participants for our makertons, which will resume as early as September. One makerton will even take place in Kiev We’re a little wary, of course, but if you don’t do things like this, detached from politics, there might not be any friendship left. There are two models of printers you can build now on makertons : by ironova (Kazan) and Ultimaker (Holland) drawings, and ironova will be in Kiev. With new themes for makertons I want to ask for help from the Habracommunity, please vote at the end of the article for what you would be interested in assembling.

Along the lines of schoolchildren, we showed our new TechnoClass franchise. We are going to help those who want to start their own business in robotics, electronics, soldering, construction, etc. for schoolchildren. We will provide a business plan, marketing materials, a set of teaching materials, training and certification of teachers, hardware, and the right certificate for students. We have found a lot of potential like-minded people at Seliger, and that’s good to know. And our robot with TRIC, which will be assembled by participants of techno-class, was given a flower.

Of course, we had a second-generation printer from our resident company ennova – ironova, as the name implies, it is very iron and heavy, but prints fast (its weight allows us to overclock the motors up to three times without losing stabilization and accuracy of extruder positioning). During the whole week the printer printed bracelets for everyone and parts for our robots and copters like a Stakhanovite.

Our resident robicom.pro, the guys do the copters, design and pilot them. We shot the drones in the header with them. The video from the side is how the drones were shot.
In addition to drones tried carrying cargo, deploying a flag in the air

And even dropping campaign fliers at a given location.

Another experiment was the w-fi that was handed out by a copter constantly flying in the air, tethered to the ground by a power wire. A useless thing? Here’s a DARPA thinks otherwise. Rapid deployment of communications networks in riots, terrorist attacks, natural disasters, and warfare can be very useful.
At Seliger there was a mobile and quite working mobile office of Sberbank with an ATM.

The guys were showing electric means of transportation :

We lived, of course, in tents:

Internet was enough to do everything except streaming video. In general, the Internet in Seliger this year was fine.
In general, Seliger is good…
