Good old reCaptcha
Captcha (CAPTCHA) is the system of protection against bots, which, by idea, separates grains from chaff, i.e. good users from spammers. The system has several modifications, and the majority of varieties has already succumbed to spammers, also not sitting still.
It’s no secret that there are also services for manual captcha cracking, where for a couple of cents (or even less) volunteers will crack any captcha they can discern. For what it’s worth, though. Google Corp. has introduced a new system of protection against spammers and bots that is different from what we have seen so far.
This technology is a two-factor (or three-factor, if you want to be more specific) assessment of the "quality" of the user. The first step looks surprisingly simple :
The point is that a special script evaluates the behavioral factor, and if a human puts a checkmark, then everything is okay. The robots work differently, so even if a spam script tries to check a box, No-CAPTCHA will know it’s not human.
True, the immediate rejection will not be – in Google understand that mistakes happen. Therefore, if the first stage is not passed, No-CAPTCHA will offer to pass the second stage of verification. Here, too, are possible options. The first of them – the usual captcha (yes, that’s such a captcha-no-captcha). But Google is testing and updated version, more user-friendly.
In this case, you are prompted to select an image of the animal from a range of photos.
As for the behavioral factors, it’s already known that they will use information about the time spent on the page and the IP of the user. Other evaluation criteria are not disclosed, because spammers will quickly create a robot that cheats No-CAPTCHA.
To work with the new system a new API is presented. It is already being used Snapchat , WordPress , Humble Bundle In order to use the system on your website, it’s a good idea to check out the FAQ
