Is it relevant to open a community of owners in runet?

by admin

Our first publication (announcement) on Habra regarding the idea of an owner community (Ownership) was enthusiastically zanussed by visitors. Well, our own fault. "PR-s!", people thought, and had every right to do so. So this time we decided to put our thoughts on the ethics, appropriateness, and probably people’s need to post information about their possessions online, with comments about them.
Question 1: Who could possibly need this in the first place?
Reply : Buyers. With large amounts of such information, the process of choosing to purchase this or that product can become very convenient and quick. Because in matters of choosing something there is nothing more valuable than reviews and discussions of the real owners of what a person is going to buy. Especially if you can easily communicate with the owner of a similar thing (animal, plant…) online, whether he is in Moscow, Kiev, Minsk or New York. Ask him a couple of questions. To read already existing discussions, reviews, impressions, wishes, to look at photos.
Question 2: Why didn’t this happen before?
Reply : There are plenty of websites where people could leave reviews on their properties, but only within the topic of the site. But, on these sites, the emphasis is on a few other things : news on the topic, articles, reviews, tests … but, again, only on the specifics of the site. The main theme of the site on possessions – directly to the very possessions of people. Not only cell phones, not only computers, but any (ideally, all that he has, and what can appear in his life in the future) possessions of any person. All of this and combine on one site. Indeed, in its pure form in Runet nothing like that has not existed.
Question 3: Privacy, security, what about these concepts?
Reply : That’s right, these and similar questions can and should arise. As soon as it comes to people’s possessions and property, issues of ethics, privacy, and protection come up immediately. That’s the main thing! By the way, as is always the case in all media, not just the Internet.
Here’s what needs to be considered when organizing such an Internet service :
1. It is unacceptable to view personal information about the owner without his/her permission.
2. Inaccessibility of viewing the entire list of possessions of an individual person;
Organization of the website with support for secure protocols;
4. Inaccessibility of viewing information on possessions without registration and authorization on the website;
5. Strict moderation;
6. Prompt communication with the administration of the resource, both on general and technical issues;
7. Hosting from a proven hosting provider;
8. Thoughtful regulations and rules of the website, consistent with the law;
9. Possible cooperation with insurance companies. Offer users to insure their property.
P.S. I am preparing to publish the second part of an article regarding the creation of an online community of owners, which will deal with the following topics :
– Necessary features of an online community of owners.
– Answers to frequently asked questions.
To be continued…
