Okay, here we go!
Number of employees : more than 30.
Industry : Personal productivity and collaborative working with colleagues.
What was the problem : Notion is currently one of the flagships in personal productivity and collaboration apps. But things were pretty bleak in 2015 and Notion as a startup almost died. The potential of the technical stack of that version of the app was insufficient, leading to constant problems. The failures hit hard on the ambitions of Notion’s creators, Ivan Zhao and Simon Last, who dreamed of creating, as they themselves said, "an app that would solve people’s everyday problems".
How Figma helped solve the problem : had to urgently revise the UX and make adjustments to their app’s UI and spend many sleepless nights creating designs in Figma and moving them to lines of code before Notion 1.0 was released in 2018.Notion’s user experience is so good that it has been honored as one of the best in UX history. The creators of Notion claim that real-time collaboration at Figma played a key role. The company currently has more than 1 million users.
Number of employees : more than 40
Industry : Online platform for designers
What is the problem : Dribbble is an advocate of remote working – absolutely all employees of this company work remotely. It’s convenient, employees have flexible schedules and can work from anywhere in the world. But even with this model, Dribbble’s management faced the challenge of creating a well-oiled collaboration of employees from different locations in different time zones, as if they were in the same room.
How Figma helped : it became the only tool that could solve this problem. Everyone at Dribbble was thrilled that they could work on the same file in real time. Workflows sped up, the team could focus directly on designs instead of endlessly wasting time from file management. Plus, Figma allowed not only the design and development team to work together, but also all of the stakeholders involved.
The bottom line is that Dribbble now not only creates designs in Figma, but also uses its API for integration, which means you can send your work directly from Figma to your Dribbble account with a couple of clicks.
Number of employees : more than 500
Industry : Renewable Energy Supply
What is the problem : Bulb is a renewable energy provider and has achieved great success in its niche. However, despite its financial success and brand recognition, there were many inconsistencies in Bulb’s work processes. All of the company’s products were created by different agencies, and of course each product had different templates, both in terms of design and code. Bulb needed to make a change.
How Figma helped : The company decided to create its own unified design system that would serve as a reference point for all designers and developers on the team. The result is a stylish and very easy to use design system Solar It was very important to Bulb that everyone in the firm, including designers, programmers, and user research specialists, be involved in the process of creating the design system, so they all understood how everything worked, because they were doing their part.
The company ended up getting design sprints in their workflows multiplied thanks to Figma.
Number of employees : more than 500
Industry : Online platform for small businesses
What is the problem : Because Gusto is in the business of helping small businesses with payroll, health insurance, and team management tools, Gusto needed a competent and quality UX. And while users liked how the platform worked, the company understood that the experience of using the platform didn’t fully reflect the company’s philosophy on user experience.
How Figma helped : Rebranding is not an easy task, where at every stage you have to coordinate everything with different stakeholders, and the company decided to use Figma as a solution to the problem. On top of that, thanks to the collaboration feature, the Gusto team kept everyone informed about what stage of the work process and why certain decisions were made. As a result of the rebranding, the company has become more recognizable and now has more than 100, 000 satisfied customers.
Number of employees : more than 1 000
Industry : Hosting of IT projects and co-development
What is the problem : GitHub hosting itself is a great platform in terms of collaboration, with millions of developers, designers, and product managers working and solving problems together. However, the company faced the same problem as many others – GitHub employees work remotely, and it needed to create an environment where people collaborate with each other as if they were in the same physical space. On top of that, work processes had to be streamlined because documentation was missing, templates were outdated, and designers had no unified system – they recreated the same components over and over again.
How Figma helped : the company created a unified design system and started documenting workflows. Also, the combination of Figma and its API solved the issue of iterations and updates when GitHub users needed to make changes to their designs. Henceforth, the need to find and install other software to update files was eliminated. And, of course, the feedback process was sped up, because with a single link all employees could view or edit certain files in real time.
At this point, all GitHub employees already consider Figma part of their culture and can’t do without the tool.

Industry : Collaboration through video communication, online conferences
What is the problem : Despite the successful development of the company, the workflows were not ideal, as Zoom employees used many different tools: Sketch for design, Invision or Framer for prototyping, and Zeplin for sending materials to the developers. Switching from one tool to another really slowed down the workflow and made it hard to focus on the really important stuff.
How Figma helped : Zoom got all of the aforementioned tools in one package, its team no longer had to be torn apart about using different programs, which greatly accelerated their work, and they made noticeable progress on their projects. Plus, thanks to Figma’s ease of use, the company’s designers improved their skills and learned how to create more correct components.
Number of employees : more than 5 000
Industry : Food Delivery
What is the problem : Deliveroo is rightfully considered one of the fastest growing companies, operating in over 500 cities around the world. The UI and UX of their app is very pleasant and user-friendly. However, the Deliveroo team used the same approach as the Zoom team – they used many different tools that prevented them from collaborating effectively, which was also reflected in problems with file synchronization across different versions of their app.
How Figma helped : Deliveroo employees immediately felt the power and effectiveness of this tool. Having created a design system for their product, the Deliveroo team was thrilled with the collaboration, which improved many times over, and the features that Figma offered – from little things like Smart Selection to the ability to sync files, all of which made the transition from idea to finished product much faster and easier.

What is the problem : AirBnB has a very good service with a thoughtful UX and elegant UI. The company has made sure that the user from anywhere in the world can feel "at home" while browsing information about other countries and places to stay. However, AirBnB’s design process itself was very complicated and stressful, as they used several programs at once, devoting less time directly to design, and spending those precious hours on workflow management.
How Figma helped : When AirBnB employees started using Figma, they realized they had found the tool they had always been looking for.Browser-based work, faster feedback, a "multiplayer" mode where colleagues can share files with anyone, anytime, and other great features of Figma increased everyone’s productivity and created a sense of unity in a company whose mission has always been cohesion. The Uber team wanted to create a single structure that unified all of their services in terms of compliance, creating all the conditions for productive collaboration.
How Figma helped : The company says they owe their current success to Figma, as its versatility and ease of use helped accelerate work processes in the creation of Uber’s design system, called Base UI, which eventually became the standard for employees. Thanks to Figma, Uber has achieved a centralized and organized way of working.

What is the problem : Despite the fact that Microsoft has its own
terrific design system Fluent , the corporation decided to go even further and simplify design workflows as much as possible. Thus, Microsoft decided to develop plug-ins in Figma to help its designers be more efficient in their work.
How Figma helped : As a result, several awesome plugins have seen the light of day. You are probably familiar with many of them, here are just a few :
- Content Reel – plugin to find the right content for layouts
- Themer – plugin which allows easy switching between libraries
- Find and Replace – acts as a text editor in Figma, searching and replacing texts on the page
- Paste to Fill – plugin to copy and paste an image as a fill on a selected layer
- Button Resizer – A plugin which adjusts the size of the button to the width of the caption.
- Focus Orderer – Automates workflows for annotation for accessibility purposes.
According to an independent survey on the Telegram channel "Useful to the Designer, " at least 47% of respondents believe that Microsoft will sooner or later take over Figma
With all that follows
There are only 10 companies on this list, but there are a myriad of other Figma clients worth mentioning : Twitter, Rakuten, Dropbox, Slack, Volvo , and many others. All this shows that the future is in Figma and companies that value speed, versatility and simplicity in their workflows are switching to this program.
We also want to note that the example of companies like Dribbble and Notion, where there are not so many employees, shows that anyone who has an idea, can in the near future (especially in the crisis period COVID-19) start their own project, having near 2-3 people (or even can do everything themselves).
